The majority of Mr. Burks’ 55 years of experience has been in the South Louisiana and Texas Gulf Coast area. He held numerous engineering and managerial positions for 13 years at Texaco including District Engineer of Texaco's Houma Louisiana District and Assistant Regional Petroleum Engineering Manager of the Houston Region. He has also served as Director of Engineering for Williams Exploration and Reservoir Engineering Manager for Apache Corporation. He has been an Independent Petroleum Engineer involved in the marketing of producing properties for the last 36 years. Throughout his career Mr. Burks has been directly associated with property acquisitions, prospect evaluations, and field studies. His experience is very pertinent to identifying, evaluating, and presenting producing oil and gas properties to prospective purchasers.
Mr. Burks is a Registered Professional Petroleum Engineer in Texas (inactive), a 54-year member of SPE (and former President of the South Louisiana Chapter), and former Vice Chairman of the South Louisiana Chapter of API.
Mr. Klauzinski joined Burks in 1994. He has 55 years of experience in the oil and gas industry including 13 years of senior-management experience. He has a broad technical background in onshore and offshore exploration and production operations. His areas of expertise include drilling, completion, workovers, production, environmental affairs, safety, and logistics.
He has held positions at Texaco, Houston Oil & Minerals, Eaton Industries, Harbert Energy and V.P. of Production & Operations at AGIP Petroleum. He has also served as a consultant to several energy companies and the U.S. Department of Energy. While at AGIP Petroleum, Mr. Klauzinski directed the successful assimilation of five offshore producing properties that resulted in the addition of 40 additional office and numerous field personnel.
Mr. Klauzinski earned his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts. He is the author of three published engineering articles on energy. He is a registered professional engineer in Louisiana (inactive) and Texas (inactive). He has been a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers since 1971.
Scott G. Byrnes, P.E.
Mr. Byrnes joined Burks in 1994. He has 46 years of diverse experience in the oil industry, primarily in reservoir engineering and economic/property evaluations. He has worked both onshore and offshore areas of the Gulf of Mexico with increasing levels of responsibilities.
Mr. Byrnes has held positions at Texas Eastern, GoldKing Production Company, and AGIP Petroleum. He also served as a consultant to several small independent oil and gas companies in Houston.
He was the Development Manager at AGIP Petroleum responsible for all reservoir engineering, development geology and geophysics, and project field development (platform/facilities design and construction). While at AGIP, he was directly involved with the acquisition of $263 million of properties from Freeport McMoRan in 1991, and for the divestiture of $195 million of AGIP operated and non-operated properties in 1994.
Mr. Byrnes earned his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Houston. Additionally, he completed post baccalaureate course work in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Houston. He is a Registered Professional Petroleum Engineer in Texas, and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
